Kačerov – Háje: the temporary suspension of metro traffic

Because of the reconstruction of the trackwork, starting on Saturday the 4th July 2015 (the commencement of the operation) and lasting until Thursday the 16th July 2015 (the end of the operation), a temporary suspension of the operation of the metro C line will occur in both directions in the Kacerov - Haje section.

A substitute bus service

The Jizni Mesto - Haje - Opatov - Chodov - Roztyly - Kacerov route (in the case of certain connections only the Haje - Kacerov route) will be served during the day by substitute XC buses. In the direction to Kacerov the service on this line will be reinforced by the inclusion of XC1 buses that will not serve the Roztyly stop, and during work day morning rush hours also by XC2 buses that will be in operation on the Haje - Opatov - Chodov - Budejovicka route (in this direction only) and that will not serve the Roztyly and the Kacerov stops.

The intervals on bus lines Nos. 125 and 135 will be shortened and articulated vehicles will serve bus line No. 213.

Changes to the regular bus service stops:

  • A temporary Roztyly stop for line No. 135 in the direction to Chodov will be established on Rysaveho Street, 70 metres prior to its intersection with Tomickova Street.

Information Measures

In connection with the planned suspension of the operation of the metro C line, the Prague Public Transit Company has implemented the following information measures on behalf of the passengers:

Information leaflets of several types will be issued in a total number of cca. 25,000 copies. These will be available in wire racks at metro stations and also in surface transport vehicles and in the information showcases at metro stations.

Starting on Saturday the 4th July 2015 and lasting until Wednesday the 8th July 2015 (at the weekend between cca. 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and on weekdays between cca. 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.), approximately 10 members of the Information Staff wearing reflective vests will be deployed adjacent to the temporarily closed metro stations and in their immediate vicinity, who will be prepared to advise passengers on-site (not only in Czech but also in English) regarding the currently functioning transport links. The Information Staff will also be provided with the already mentioned information leaflets for passengers. At each end of the excluded section (Kacerov, Haje) Information Staff will be available to passengers during the time periods defined above throughout the entire period of the suspension of the operation, i.e. until the 16th July 2015.

Starting on Monday the 29th June 2015 information posters on stands will appear in metro stations that will provide basic information about the upcoming suspension of operation and these will also be available for passengers during the actual period of the suspension. From the 1st July 2015 the upcoming suspension of operation will be publicised by announcements at the metro stations and they will also be provided during the actual period of the suspension.

Cca. 50 information panels comprising a schematic drawing and basic textual information in Czech and in English will be prepared for providing information in regard to specific destinations.

Changes to transport conditions during the 2015 IIHF World Championship

During the period from the 1st May to the 17th May 2015, when the 2015 IIHF World Championship will be taking place in Prague, the Prague Transit Company will increase the level of service on metro line B both before and after all the Championship matches. The transportation capacity of the trams running in the vicinity of the O2 Arena will also be increased and Information Staff of the Prague Transit Company wearing reflective vests will be present, ready to provide information about the transport connections in both the Czech and English languages. A complete overview of the traffic information for the period of the 2015 IIHF World Championship can be found below.

Useful information for visitors to the Hockey Championship, including important links together with downloadable maps and brochures is available here.

The Operation of the Metro:

The operation of metro line B will be increased only on the days on which Championship matches are being played (on the free days, i.e. on Wednesday the 13th May and on Friday the 15th May 2015, the operation will not be increased).

  • At weekend and on holidays, the operation of metro line B will be increased always during the 2 hours immediately prior to the commencement of each match (thereby also ensuring an adequate increase of service for transporting passengers from the completed matches).
  • On weekdays, the operation of metro line B will be increased prior to the end of the usual afternoon rush hours (on Tuesday the 12th May 2015, when three matches are being played, its operation will also be increased during the saddle period).
  • On weekdays, at weekends and on holidays, the operation of metro line B will always be increased for the period following the end of the evening matches that take place on individual days of the Championship.

On Sunday the 3rd May 2015, when the Prague International Marathon also takes place in Prague, the operation of metro lines A, B and C will be increased from the morning hours onwards.

On the day of the Championship Final (i.e. the 17th May 2015), the amount of the afternoon and evening service on metro line B will be increased until the end of the usual operating hours. If necessary (e.g. in the event of a prolongation of the match and the subsequent delay of the closing ceremony), on this day the Prague Transit Company will extend the operation of all the metro lines by 1 hour.

In the event of irregular increases in demand the Prague Transit Company is also prepared during the entire period of the Championship to also actively increase the operation of metro lines A and C by providing regular backup.

The Operation of the Trams:

During the Championship trams will be scheduled in accordance with the current timetable. The service on certain selected tram lines will also be boosted by increasing their transportation capacity.

All the connections in the vicinity of the O2 Arena (on Ceskomoravska Street and on Sokolovska Street) will be serviced by coupled trams (15T, KT8, etc.). This measure is also applicable to the night-time operation and to the free days of the Championship. To ensure safety of operation, the trams running on Ceskomoravska Street will be restricted in both directions to a maximum speed of 30 km per hour.

In the vicinity of the O2 Arena constant supervision of the traffic will be ensured by the dispatchers on all the days on which Championship matches are being played.

The Operation of Buses:

Throughout the Championship (including on its free days) no traffic will be able to use the turnabout at the Ceskomoravska metro station. Bus lines Nos. 151, 158 and 375 will be diverted from Ocelarska Street to K Moravine Street, which will be reserved exclusively for bus traffic. The exit and the boarding stations will be temporarily relocated to K Moravine Street, specifically to the section running between Ocelarska Street and Drahobejlova Street.

Line No. 151 will not service the Poliklinika Vysocany stop in either direction and it will be diverted from Sokolovska Street to Ocelarska Street.

The Information System for Visitors to the Event:

The existing information system at the Ceskomoravska metro station will be complemented by including details for navigating to the O2 Arena and to the FanZone.

Starting from the 27th April 2015 (and subsequently during the entire Championship) leaflets will be available on trams and there will be posters in the JCDecaux showcases located at the stops and also on stands at the metro stations, providing basic information about connections to the O2 Arena and additional useful information. Similar information will also appear on the screens of the Metrovision system at metro stations.

Information Staff wearing reflective vests will be available throughout the period of the Championship at the Ceskomoravska metro station, who will be able to provide you with information regarding transportation either in Czech or in English. During the Championship the Prague Transit Company's Infoline is available daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the telephone No. +420 296 19 18 17.

Tickets for individual matches have no validity as travel documents. Passengers, who are able to prove their identity using the accreditation card issued by the Hockey Association, will be entitled to travel by public transport free-of-charge.

We wish a very pleasant sporting experience to all the visitors to the IIHF World Championship.
